N°23 - Parc Meynot
En 1889, Adolphe Meynot, riche propriétaire, dont la famille a donné trois maires à Donzère, lègue ce pré à la commune pour “faire prendre l’habitude du travail et le goût de l’agriculture” aux garçons de l’école.
Ce terrain est clôturé, puis l’escalier monumental est construit en 1903.
En 1921 est élevé le monument aux morts à la gloire des soldats tombés sur les champs de batailles. Un bas-relief en bronze à l’effigie de Félix Clément (peintre, prix de Rome) offert par ses amis félibres (poètes provençaux) est érigé dans la partie est du pré en 1928. En 1956, cet espace est aménagé en parc. Au bas de l’escalier se trouve un buste d’Adolphe Meynot, œuvre du sculpteur, peintre et paysagiste Gaston Dintrat (1889-1964).
In 1889, Adolphe Meynot, a rich land-owner whose family had provided Donzère with three mayors, left this field to the municipality to make the boys of the local school “acquire the habit of work and give them a taste for agriculture”. This plot was fenced then the monumental steps were built in 1903.
In 1921 the war memorial was built to honour the soldiers killed on the battlefields. A bas-relief in bronze of Félix Clément (painter and Prix de Rome) was offered by his friends, the poets from Provence, called “félibres” and set on the east side of the field in 1928. In 1956, this space was turned into a park. At the foot of the steps there is a bust of Adolphe Meynot, work of the sculptor, painter and landscape designer, Gaston Dintrat (1889-1964).
